2024 Foreign Military Sales Symposium and Industry Day

Professionalization of the Workforce and the Promise of Security Cooperation

May 23-24, 2024

The first Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Symposium will be hosted May 23-24, 2024, by the Defense Security Cooperation University’s School of Security Cooperation Studies. The second day of the event, Industry Day, will be co-hosted by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)). The FMS Symposium will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at the National Harbor, Maryland.

The FMS Symposium will raise awareness and understanding across the Security Cooperation Enterprise, including amongst representatives of the Defense Industrial Base, of the Department of Defense’s role in implementing the FMS process. The event will examine ways to build a stronger foundation for innovation in executing the FMS mission.

The draft FMS Symposium Program is now available but subject to updates. The one-and-a-half-day Symposium will feature a series of plenary sessions and will gather leaders and experts engaged in all aspects of the FMS process. Each panel, organized around facets of the FMS system, will explore the challenges and opportunities that FMS presents in advancing the National Defense Strategy. The first day of the Symposium will observe the Chatham House Rule. The second day, hosted by OUSD (A&S), will include a virtual component to enable maximum participation from the across the Security Cooperation Enterprise.

Policymakers, practitioners, and scholars from across the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of State, interagency, academia, industry, and foreign partners involved in this key aspect of U.S. foreign policy are invited to attend. Lodging information: Rooms have been blocked at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, 1201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, Maryland. For registered attendees requiring accommodation, please find blocked rooms at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

DSCU will host continental breakfast on both days and lunch on May 23, 2024. All other meals and travel-related expenditures should be coordinated with your respective organization, per their rules and regulations.
