SC-2XX RealWorld Evaluation: Working Under Budget, Time, Data, and Political Constraints
The purpose of this course is to provide practitioners with an overview of the RealWorld Evaluation (RWE) approach. During this course, students will explore RWE and the contexts in which it is used as well as the seven steps of the RWE approach which include:
- Clarify the purpose: scoping the evaluation;
- Not enough money: addressing budget constraints;
- Not enough time: addressing scheduling and other time constraints;
- Critical information is missing or difficult to collect: addressing data constraints;
- Political constraints;
- Strengthening the evaluation design and the validity of conclusions; and
- Making it useful: helping clients and other stakeholders utilize the evaluation.
- Students will also explore how they can utilize the RWE approach in SC AM&E and planning.
