ISG supported U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) in the initial planning and design of the 2023 "Pacific Resilience" Disaster Exercise and Exchange (DREE) in Tumon, Guam. National delegates from Republic of Korea, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives attended the event, which was hosted at the Guam National Guard Headquarters. The Pacific Resilience multinational exercise series aims to increase unity of effort, interoperability, and disaster response capacity within the regional Indo-Pacific disaster management community of practice.

In March 2022, the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) supported the final table-top exercise leading to the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) Capability Development Division (CDD) achieving full operational capability. The standup of the CDD marks a significant advancement in the modernization of the JAF through the implementation of a Capability Based Planning (CBP) framework tailored to support its military decision-making process. The CDD is now able to serve as the JAF lead for identifying current and future operational gaps impacting the ability to execute its mission; validating appropriate solution approaches; and prioritizing needs, supporting development and procurement; and tracking implementation, and supporting efforts to assess the effectiveness of capability gap mitigation.

The Institute of Security Governance (ISG) inaugurated an Institutional Capacity Building (ICB) program in Oman in 2020 meant to strengthen the Partner’s ability to maintain border security and respond to local and regional threats to security. Recently, ISG conducted a multi-week workshop in Muscat for 75 people across the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and other Omani governmental ministries intended to develop the SAF’s operational planning capability. The workshop included a course on the joint planning process, combined with daily practical application using a disaster response planning scenario. Workshops like these provide the opportunity for Partner Nations to develop the capabilities to use a formalized planning process to address a myriad of threats.

Over the past three years, ISG has strategically worked to align Institutional Capacity Building development, execution, and education within DSCA and DSCU. Today we celebrate this milestone with this brief snapshot of ISG’s FY21 accomplishments in the pursuit of advancing Security Cooperation.

This past month, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff awarded the Joint Meritorious Unit Award for exceptionally meritorious service to Headquarters, United States Central Command and select subordinate units. We are proud to announce that included among the ranks of those awarded were eight Institute for Security Governance Resident Advisors, who were deployed in region at the time and contributed to the mission. Bravo Zulu!
